During a live interview today inside the White House, President Obama told MTV viewers that when it comes to same-sex marriage, it would be up to future generations of Americans to implement meaningful reform.
Asked if he would use his second term as a platform to extend same-sex marriage to more states, the president demurred, saying he viewed it as an issue for the states to decide.
"For us to try to legislate federally into this area is probably the wrong way to go," Obama told MTV presenter Sway Calloway, who asked questions submitted by youth voters.
I'd say it's amazing how lip service is enough for some people, but the President has plainly given up all pretense of even that.
Naturally, bring up reality to a liberal and watch the goal posts get moved. This time it was someone else chiming in about the glories of Obamacare. Seems she's saving money left and right. It's been nothing but a good thing for her.
Great. I'm glad. Really. After all, she's upper-middle-class, and isn't that whom Obama pledged to help?
Oh, it's not? He promised it would help poor people, didn't he? Interestingly enough, it's not the lower-middle-class or the poor people on my Facebook who are singing Obama's praises...it's people who didn't need help to begin with.
Imagine that. Guantanamo Bay is still open, our presence in Afghanistan has been carried forward for the foreseeable future, warrantless wiretapping continues apace, teh gayz still can't get married, and poor people are still poor (only, now lots of 'em are even more tied to the government, and therefore with less chance to ever get ahead in life).
Yep, definitely a road worth staying on.
