What do I Need to Make Rap Beats???
by Jay Reed
If you are interested in making Rap Beats or Hip-Hop Music. You will need something to create and arrange the music. I will outline a few things that you will need in the beatmaking process. I will explain the differences between Hardware and Software and a few other things that will be needed.
To begin with you will be needing some sort of Program Whether that's Computer software or Hardware to make the beats. In my knowledge of more than 18 years with doing beats Personally i have tried both pieces Hardware and Software. I continue to use both these days.
So I want to converse somewhat concerning the Hardware aspect. By Hardware What i'm saying is physical Drum Devices, Samplers and Keyboards that you just touch and play with your hands. I initially started off using a DR-660 drum unit about 18 years back. This became my very first item of "real" recording studio equipment. Before this I had been just working with breakbeat records on turntables and recording on the house stereo. This drum machine had stock sounds that might be manipulated with side effects like reverb and flanger but you couldn't add sounds. You were able however record patterns and after that organize all those patterns into songs. I was able to be taught a good deal through the use of that drum machine and it also was beneficial to be capable of playing the pads to listen to and record the sounds.
Down the line I was able to get hold of a Roland XP-60 Work station as well as a Roland MV-8000 Sampler. Again this is actual hardware that you can play. The XP-60 had stock sounds but couldn't add sounds. However, the MV-8000 which is really a sampler/sequencer surely could increase sounds and sample. This genuinely opened the door for creative imagination having the ability to import new sounds and sample new stuff.
Second of all I want to talk a small amount about computer software utilized for producing beats. The initial software system that I had was Cakewalk, as well as Fruit Loops Studio last but not least Reason by Propellerhead. I had usually enjoyed the design and feel of Hardware till I began using software. In my estimation, the most important benefit of working with software is the purchase price. You can obtain computer software for just a 3 rd of the selling price you may spend on hardware. If you're PC savvy which much of the youthful era has become, it really is easier to trim, copy and paste while in the software. This was significantly less easy when utilizing Hardware.
Lastly you will need to have rhythm and some type of music ability. Although I had basic music composition classes while in High School, I am no way a musician or know how to play by reading notes. However, I do have the ability to keep rhythm with a beat metronome and I am able to play melodies along with beats. No matter if you choose Hardware of Software, you will need to be able to keep rhythm and play in key when you make your beats.
