I haven`t posted any 78`s for a WAY long time, so here we go---

Uncredited Artist / Standard A423
Black Jim - I`m Afraid To Come Home In The Dark / likely recorded between 1905 & 1910
As far as I know, Standard records were mostly pressed from Columbia masters. A 'coon" type song record.

Rev. F.W. McGee / Victor 20773
Jonah In The Belly Of The Whale - With His Stripes We Are Healed / likely recorded around 1926
A typical preaching record from the king of preaching records. Gates recorded Many sides for many different labels.

Hershal Brown & His Washboard Band / Victor 21403
Nobody Loves Me - Down Yonder / recorded Feb. 4th, 1928
Two great tunes done in Brown`s unique style.

George Reneau / Vocalion 15182
Jack & Joe - The Hand Of Fate / recorded Oct. 15th, 1925
George Reneau was a blind street singer that performed in Knoxville, Tennessee. He also recorded for Edison. Most of his material was of the tear jerker type.

Sweet William & Bad Bill / Brunswick 3710
Sweet William & Bad Bill In New York - Sweet William & Bad Bill Still In New York / likely recorded mid 20`s
I don`t know anything about these artists. The disc is a talking comedy record.

Dan Kutter (David Miller) / Challenge 327
The Lonesome Valley - That Bad Man Stacklee / recorded May, 1927
Dan Kutter was an alias for David Miller (who I believe was blind). This is from Gennett masters. I believe some labels would re-issue sides on other labels to keep costs of royalties down.

Jesse Coat (Asa Martin) / Champion 15922
Johnny The Drunkard - The Fellow That Looks Like Me / recorded Aug. 29, 1929 & Jan. 14, 1930
This is also from Gennett masters. Asa Martin made a pretty good amount of records and continued in music up into at least the 1970`s.

The Deal Family - Columbia 15214-D
Beautiful Home Somewhere - He`s Coming Again / recorded Nov. 5, 1927
The Deal Family is a great gospel group.

McDonald Quartette / Gennett 6466
Rocking On The Waves - That Beautiful Land / recorded May 1, 1928
Another great gospel group.

Ossman & Farmer / Blaze Away March
Monarch 1822 / likely recorded around 1905
A good march played classic banjo style

Lohaina Trio - Supertone 9093
Indiana March - Repasz March / likely recorded 1926-ish
A good Hawaiian record. Hawaiian music was VERY popular from about 1900 up through the 1930`s

Frank Crumit / Victor 21466
No News or What Killed The Dog - The Three Trees / likely recorded about 1927
A remake of a couple of early "talking record" sides by artists from the early days of records.

Jimmie Wilson`s Catfish String Band / Victor V-40216
Catfish Medley March - Argentine Rag / recorded Oct. 17, 1929
A great string band record.

Lester McFarland & Robert A. Gardener / Vocalion 5121
Knoxville Gal - Chattanooga Blues / recorded Dec. 10, 1926
McFarland & Gardener were two blind musicians based around Knoxville, Tennessee. Most of their material was of the tear jerker type, but once in a while, McFarland would record a fine country blues such as Chattanooga Blues that features some fine guitar work.
