Feature Friday this week features a song called Raymond, by Brett Eldredge. I came across this song on Pandora a while back and really liked it. I found the music video on YouTube a few weeks ago. It seems to be the perfect Feature Friday song. Eldredge released his first single, "Raymond," on September 27, 2010. It debuted at number 52 on the Hot Country Songs charts dated for the week ending October 16, 2010. It peaked at number 23. Eldredge performed on the Grand Ole Opry for the first time on October 29, 2010. (Source)

Top 100 Greatest Miami Bass Songs of All Time
Miami Bass Songs is a form of Hip Hop dance with its core roots in Afrika Bambaataa & The Soul Sonic Force's 1982 seminal track "Planet Rock". The style is characterized by raps or instrumentals, a heavy syncopated bass, and features party, message, or explicit lyrical content. Important pioneers include Amos Larkin (the father of Miami Bass), 2 Live Crew, and Maggotron, to name a few. The genre also kick started the southern rap phenomenon. Miami Bass peaked in the late '80s and early '90s with acts such as J.J. Fad, 2 Live Crew, DJ Magic Mike, and Sir Mix-A-Lot. Its last great period was in the late '90s before it virtually went underground ever since."

Top 100 Jazz Songs of All Time This is my list of the 100 top jazz songs of all time. Before I go any further, I need to make a couple of things clear. First, I really love jazz music. It is an important part of my everyday life and I cannot begin to imagine my daily existence without jazz music in it. However, I am not what you would call a “jazz purist.” I firmly believe that jazz music can be created from artists not traditionally labeled as jazz artists.
For example, as you’ll notice on my list of the 100 top jazz songs of all time, I have a couple of artists that might raise a few eyebrows. Artists like Jeff Beck and Frank Zappa. Artists that are usually thought of more in the rock-n-roll realm instead of jazz circles. But the cuts I have selected from them are indeed jazz cuts. They are briming with the very same creativity, passion and inventiveness that made Miles Davis, Louis Armstrong and W.C. Handy the icons that they are.

However, I am not what you would call a “jazz purist.” I firmly believe that jazz music can be created from artists not traditionally labeled as jazz artists.

Wade Mainer - Soulful Sacred Songs
To contact us Click HERE
I am going to start posting my Wade Mainer LP`s. I thought that would be the next logical "series" of material to post after all the J.E. Mainer LP`s I posted.
Since it`s Sunday, what we have here is a fine gospel LP. Wade was a very fine country gospel singer. Sometime after World War 2, Wade became converted to a Christian. He still recorded some hillbilly material up into the late 1940`s, but felt his music was interffering with his new choice of religion, so he quit playing and recording for a living. Some years later, Wade met Molly O`Day and she convinced him he could witness as a Christian through gospel music. So, all the rest of his life, Wade and his wife started picking again, both gopel and traditional country. Thank God for Molly O`Day!
The material on this LP is taken from the old King sides and predates Wade quitting music due to religious convictions. Wade had recorded many gospel numbers throughout the early part of his music career.

I think Jimmy Driftwood is going to be the next "series" posted. I don`t know which is the title to this, I Hear Your People Singing, or Blanchard Cave. Oh well, guess it don`t matter, it`s all good music just the same. I think this was recorded in the mid 1970`s somewhere locally around where Jimmy lived in Mountain View, Arkansas. Enjoy!

Here is one more Jimmy Driftwood LP from the Monument label. I have one more, but I don`t have it transferred from the LP to my computer yet, or I`d post it with these two LP`s. All my equipment is tore apart right now, so I don`t know how long it may be before I get the other LP to where I can post it. Enjoy these two, they are good `uns!

Jimmy Driftwood - Newly Discovered Early American Folk Songs / The Battle Of New Orleans
To contact us Click HERE
Here`s sort of an odd one. This LP was issued with two different covers, although the back of the cover is the same on both issues. Who knows why, were they trying to fool people into buying the "new" LP released with a different cover? Oh well... it`s not what`s on the cover that concerns us, it`s what`s on the vinyl that we care about. And this is a good LP, give it a download!
Another thing I`m wondering, how did Jimmy actually spell his first name? I believe it`s Jimmy with a Y. LP`s on RCA is pretty much the only place I see it spelled Jimmie with an IE instead of a Y.
